In January 2012, St Mary’s will embark on a £5m development programme which will render parts of the Church unavailable at certain times. Our current understanding of the schedule is as follows:.
Vaults and Gardens Cafe: The Vaults and Gardens cafe will close on Monday 2nd January and will reopen, with limited service on 29th April. We hope to be able to offer a full service in the Vaults and Gardens from 26th May.
Old Library: The Old Library will be unavailable from 1st January until 29th June.
Shop and Tower: We currently expect the Tower to close by the end of November, although it may close earlier. The Shop will remain open until Christmas Eve. We expect both the Shop and Tower to reopen on the 18th May 2012. Please note that from now, the only access to the Church, Shop and Tower is via the high street.
Church: During the first phase of the works, from January to June, the Chancel and De Brome Chapel will be sealed off. Sunday morning services will continue to take place in the Nave. During the second phase of the works, the Chancel and De Brome Chapel will reopen and the Nave will be closed to the public. Access to the De Brome Chapel, Chancel, Shop and Tower will be via Radcliffe Square only. We expect the Nave to reopen in November 2012
